Go Figure - 25th February

The end-of-season may well be linked to which team wins the Championship. Sheringham got a rather fortuitous one last season but if United win again van Nistelrooy would have few detractors and Giggs has contributed to 20 goals in less than 13 match-equivalents. If Liverpool triumph, Hyppia, will get mentioned whilst for Newcastle, Solano remains as consistent as any midfield player whilst Shearer has had a better year than most would have predicted. However, Arsenal have three bona-fide candidates

There has been recent rumours that Vieira would fetch a world record transfer fee if he moved and there is no doubt that his anchoring of the midfield does allow other players to express themselves more. He is currently second in the Opta Stats tackling league currently winning more than three-quarters of his confrontations. On the other hand, it was not until the 30th January that he achieved his second assist of the season and his first goal arrived at the weekend. In addition, his disciplinary record remains woeful; he was the fastest to 50 cards in the Premiership

Henry is having a spectacular year, detail see here. He currently leads the goal-scoring race with 20 goals and is the most accurate striker in the league. If he can maintain his current output he will achieve at least the 45 points (goals+assists) needed to become the record-holder in a 38 match season

The dark-horse is Robert Pires, playing at the peak of his career in year number two in Arsenals colours. Ranked by Opta as the most prolific dribbler, he adds a lot of flair to a team which has now scored in a record 28 consecutive games. The twentieth assist that he contributed, against Fulham, is only the fifth time this level has been reached and he is well set to break Steve McManaman's 1995/6 record of 25.

Go Figure    22-23 December
Charlton Athletic 0–2 Blackburn Rovers
Charlton put out the same starting line-up for third consecutive time, without sucess. Spurs and Newcastle lead the way with six occurrences this year. Manchester United are the only team to have had a different starting eleven for each match
Chelsea 5–1 Bolton Wanderers
Hendry's own-goal means that five different players score in the same game for Chelsea a Premiership-first for the team
Derby County 3–1 Aston Villa
Derby score three goals for first time since an 8 goal thriller in April 2000 . The 51 game drought has only been topped in the Premiership by a 65 game run Nottingham Forest endured
Leeds United 3–4 Newcastle 4
A sparkling performance sees Newcastle top at Christmas for the second time More...
Leicester City 1–1 West Ham United
Involved in 14 of the Hammers' 20 goals this season, di Canio is well on course to contribute to more than half of his team's output for the third succesive season
Liverpool 1–2 Arsenal
Henry reaches the 50 goal milestone in the third-fewest games. He has scored against every club he has faced except Bolton (1 game) and West Ham United (2), but has yet to register with a header
Manchester United 6–1 Southampton
van Nistelrooy's hat-trick ensures United of at least one ten-goal scorer for each of the Premiership seasons. Arsenal have also achieved this feat, with Liverpool able to join them later in the season
Sunderland 1–0 Everton
Unsurprisingly, this was a loe-scoring affair. Sunderland's 18 matches have only produced 31 goals. Every other team, except Fulham (34), have provided at least 40 goals for the fans
Tottenham Hotspur 1–2 Ipswich Town
Ipswich snap a 15 game winless run that has only been exceeded in a season by Nottingham Forest, but no team bottom at Christmas has avoided the drop
