An 89th minute goal in a game in which his side was already two up marks his 200th Premiership goal down as one of the least consequential of his career, but Alan Shearer will take it anyway

• He was pipped by Cole as the fastest to 50 goals (66 games v 65) but easily won the race to 100 (124 v Ian Wright's 173). His subsequent 50 goal hauls have taken 89 and 94 games, respectively. He has scored more goals with his right foot, 149, than any other player has with all of their anatomy

• The only player to top the all-time Premiership scoring for more than one club, his 112 goals for Blackburn lies second only to Fowler's 120 for Liverpol whilst the 88 for Newcastle place him in sixth place. He similarly leads both of his clubs in points achieved

• His 94 assists place him eighth on the all-time list. and the 294 points is fifty clear of Cole

• 139 of his goals have come at home, more than fifty clear of his nearest rivals. He also has the most away goals (61 to runner-up 59); first-half goals (95;65); second-half goals (105;85) winners (53;39); right-footed (149;96); penalties (41;24); and multiple-goal games (45:32)

  His 29 goals from shots outside the box is only bettered by David Beckham . He has scored once in 11 substitute appearances

• If he can manage one more goal in this campaign, he will have achieved the 20 goal mark in six seasons. Les Ferdinand is the only other player to even reach three such years. He also has three of the five 30 goal Premiership seasons on record. The 34 he notched in 1994/5 equals Cole's record and the 31 in the following year is the tops for a 38 game season

• His eleven hat-tricks is a Premiership record and the five he scored in 1995/6 is one for the ages. No other player has managed more than two in a season. His five-goal haul has only been equalled by Cole

• In six seasons - double his nearest competitior - he has scored in at least four consecutive games and in four years has managed runs of five or more. In early 1999/00 he scored ten goals in just five matches

• Only Fulham and Watford have avoided his finishing power. The sixteen goals he has scored against Leeds is the most by any player against another club. He is the leading, or joint-leading, scorer against nine other clubs and has scored ten or more goals against eight different clubs more than half the total instances of such a feat
