Go Figure - 1st October

It was a good day for some of the most prolific point-scorers; Di Canio picked up his first goals of the season, Giggs his first assists, whilst Shearer also registered his first multi-assist game in almost a year. As the table shows, this allows him to reach the fifty-game level for multi-point games thereby catching leader David Beckham.

Giggs is the only player to register a point in at least 100 games and has done so in 37% of his appearances, a proportion topped only by Beckam (39%), who is on a slide with just a single goal to his credit this season

It could be argued that the ability to post more multi-point than single point games defines the truly exceptional, attacking player. Beckham, Shearer and Cantona would definitely feature high in a poll of greatest-ever Premiership players. However, the fourth name on the list, di Canio, should not be disregarded particularly as he has played on a much weaker team and will have had the opposition concentrating on him to a greater extent
